One of my good friends has just joined Old Westbury CC and called to ask me about the course.  I have never heard of it so I thought Id ask the knowledgeable members here at GSC for their thoughts/opinions.  Anything you can offer is appreciated.

Ari ,I caddied there many years ago, it has 27 holes. i believe
William Mitchell designed much of it

12-15 of those holes are rather bland, many parallel fours with not too much strategy. The nine in the woods has some interest in terrain etc. It was improved nicely by Gil Hanse about 5-6 years ago. Gil added interest to the green complexes.

Overall there are numerous courses in Nassau County  that are more evloved in in their architecture than OW, including
Fresh Meadow, Engineers, North Shore, Plandome ,and especially Sands Point which is a subtle but excellent design by Tillinghast
