Bill,You ask great questions. I wish I could give you a more concrete opinion. But, I saw SE back in May, before most of the grass was grown-in, and traversing the entire property, in my guides SUV, wasn't comprehensive. I can tell you this, the serenity, combined with the views of the Coachella Valley, are really un-precedented (unless you a Big Horn sheep)
While superficially, BM and SE sites might look somewhat similar, I suspect their only real similarity is the scale. One thing I suspect is the internal contours on the greens, at SE, they were not as sharp as BM's, but (I suspect) rather were more sloped with the natural lay of the land. While there is no box canyon one shotters (I think) there is one teeing ground, the highest point, that utilizes the rock reparian that flows form the higher peaks.
As for a comparison to Apache, The scale of the bunkering at AS is nothing like the ones in these pictures, is it? Just as a matter of progression, I suspect SE is representative of the continued quality teamwork, that Doak and crew have evolved into. Subtle, Grand and truely should be appreciated as art.
