Pine Valley Question
« on: June 01, 2005, 10:38:54 PM »
I was looking at 'The Links' Robert Hunter and came across a photo (page 69) of the third hole.  The picture was taken from the tee looking forward to the green.  In the background to the right of the green sits a large building on a hill.  My question is, can anyone tell me what that building is or was.  It looks to big a large residence.  The only time I was there a few years ago I do not remember seeing it but the trees could have blocked out the view.  The building can also be seen in another aerial photo in The Links.  Thanks

That's Dormie House (once called "Parish's" House, I believe). It's been there since the beginning and it's still very much there. They have cook-outs and such up there during tournaments--eg member/guests, Crump Cup et al. It can't be seen today like in was in those photos because the trees have grown over 75 years or so as trees do. And Dormie House is where the archives are!  ;)

Thanks TE
It looks like the place had some incredible views over the course before trees grew in.
