Thanks, Doug....and also to Jeff Riggs for an informative presentation and one heck of a firm and fast golf course. I was there a couple of years ago and it is remarkable how firm the course is. Great stuff.

Patrick did a wonderful job and I also wish to extend my thanks to Mr. Hansen and the superb staff at Hidden Creek.

A fabulous day!  (except for my woeful game, that is)  ;)

I would also like to extend my thanks to Pat and all those connected to Hidden Creek. The decision to let the Bill Coore segment go longer was wise.

Thanks so much, Pat.  You put together a day of education and fun that will be hard to beat.  I know, if you continue with these that you'll somehow find a way.

I thought the structure of the seminar was brilliant.  We first heard from Roger Hanson, who went into great depth to discuss the perspective of developer and owner in the building and membership issues of Hidden Creek.  Roger talked of the differences between his public golf projects and his long and well-rewarded quest to find a project that he could work together with Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.  It is a fine effort and an interesting golf course.  The lower profile but challenging greens in contrast to the higher hazards is a delightful change of pace.

Next Bill Coore, who seems to be a consummate gentleman as well an obviously gifted talent, enthralled us with his perspectives on golf architecture in general and HC specifically, his willingness to field any questions and give a thoughtful responses and approachability was a real treat.  Tom Paul has been speaking to me at length for many years about what a great fellow Bill is on so many levels.  I had very high expectations and they were far exceeded.

Jeff Riggs had a hard act to follow but he did a great job talking about grasses, construction and maintenance aspects of the golf course.  He fielded a number of questions about his work at HC and also answered general questions as well.

So we had everything covered; the development, the architecture and the maintenance.  Throw in some terrific GCAers from all over, a wonderful day for golf and to be able to play afterwards and have cocktails was a joy.  Lloyd Cole stiffing one to inches on the last hole to carry he and Garry to victory over Bill and I was tough to take, but the long ride home was full of cheer because it was such a special day.

Thanks to Pat, Bill, Jeff, Ian and the entire staff at Hidden Creek and of course, Roger Hanson for his gracious hospitality.

Another thank you.  Laura and I had a wonderful day - the facilities were first class, the speakers were awesome, and the golf course was splendid.

I'm proud to say that I 4-putted #8.  That green is like a golf hole in and of itself, especially if you're on the wrong (left) side of the green.

I absolutely loved the green complexes.  The putting surfaces were very complex and you could tell that a lot of hard work went into their construction.

Thank you!

Dan,

My tee shot ended up 20 yards past the green on 8.  I had an easy chip back to the hole considering all the contours I would've faced from other directions.  Of course, like much of the day, I hit a nice chip only to screw up the short putt.  Great to see you and Laura.

Pat et all it was a great get together after all these years on GCA, seeing Tommy, hearing your friendly gibes with Tom Paul in person - really brought together many moments here on my fifth computer - even though I have asked Wayne to give me a hand on how to operate same.

Thanks, Willie

I agree with everyone, thanks Pat, Bill Coore, and especially Roger Hansen for sharing the course with us, as well as sharing their thoughts.

It was also great seeing old faces and meeting new ones. Thanks Shel, Mike and Dave for getting me around the golf course, and thanks to the other Dave (sorry, don't know how to spell your last name) keeping me thinking about the course and not about my miserable play. :)

I'm proud to say I 2-putted #8 from the left side, across and over the elephant mound!

Thanks again Pat for a wonderful day of "golf education" from the perspective of owner/developer, architect and superintendent. All the speakers were excellent, the new clubhouse was outstanding, the golf course was challenging and, more important, the camaraderie of the partcipants was self-evident. Connecting faces with names and establishing personal contact is what these gatherings are all about. We need more dinners at Chef Vola's!!!!
I had nice discussions with Roger Hansen and Bill Coore, both of whom are such pleasant and engaging persons. I asked Bill about his WeKoPa project in AZ and was told that construction is about to start. Perhaps we should celebrate the grand opening of this course with a winter retreat to sunny AZ.

What a wonderful day ..... Thanks to Pat, Roger, Bill, Jeff, Ian

and I had the distinct pleasure of playing with my buddy, Tommy N ................

had the pleasure of matching up the names to GCA faces I hadn't met before and, of course, revisiting with the "usual suspects"

Fantastic day! Thanks to Pat for all of the hard work and being a very gracious host.

The course was everything I expected and so much more.

Great to see some old friends and make more new one's.

Can't wait 'till next year.

Pat

I appreciate what you and all those mentioned above did to make this outing at Hidden Creek a monumental success.

The bar has been raised to unsustainable levels with this event and raises the question of whether all future events need to be held at modern courses.  If we go to The Knoll next year will George be able to get Charles Banks and the developer of the club to speak with us?  ;)

Great effort and much thanks.

It was to date the best non-playing GCA experience I've had, the panel was incredible, candid, and moving.

Enough can't be said about how much I appreciated the substance of the program, an informative and wonderful experience.

Thanks again.

I have been away from the computer this week and feel compelled to add my belated thanks.  The presentations were superb; as much as I enjoyed the play I could have spent the entire day asking questions.  For those who have not attended a GCA function, it is an experienced not to be missed.  I look forwards to seeing my friends again.  Special thanks to Pat for all your hard work.

Pat,
thanks to you, Roger Hansen, Jennifer Hansen and Bill Coore for being such phenominal hosts. I only wish the event could have been longer, but given the chance to experience such a great club and many a great personality, worth the time and effort.

Thank you Pat and all the speakers. A very speacil day that I will not forget and I really appreciate all of the efforts it took to make the day happen. I could listen to Mr. Coore all day. Wouldn't it be great to walk the course with him?

My favorite quote form Mr. Coore, "lay the course quietly over the ground."

A few days after the H.C. outing I got an email update from GCSAA. They sometimes inlcude quotes and trivial information. This is the one from 5/19:

"The eduated taste admires simplicity of design and sound workmanship for their own sake, rather than over-decoration and the crowding of artificial hazards."  - Wethered and Simpson (The Architectural Side of Golf, 1929)

I'm not that educated because I've not heard of Wethered and Simpson before but I truely enjoyed Hidden Creek and somehow this quote helped sum that up for me.

Thanks again to all,
Sean
