Master's Scorecard error this year
« on: April 13, 2005, 06:46:57 AM »
Gone unreported was Billy Casper's scorecard which was originally a 105, then changed to a 106.

Who kept his card? The same guy who kept Roberto DeVincendo's card, Tommy Aaron.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Speaking of which:

I listened to Masters Radio online Thursday. Aaron's group started on 10. Aaron parred both 10 and 11. As Aaron was about to hit his tee shot at 12, the announcer declared, with all apparent sincerity, that he was "just one shot off the lead." I laughed out loud.

Best moments of the Masters Radio I heard came during a rain delay, when they were filling time interviewing the likes of New York Times sportswriter Dave Anderson. The announcer opened the interview by saying something like "Where do you rank The Masters among the great sporting events of the world?" -- clearly expecting Anderson to say: "Oh, it's right there at the top! The pinnacle! The apex!"

Anderson's answer was more like "Oh, well, yes, it's one of the top sporting events in the world."

Within minutes, we had learned that The Masters is not only not Anderson's favorite golf tournament anywhere, but his least favorite tournament among the Majors -- because, as a reporter, he can't get inside the ropes and cover it properly.

Within a very short time after that, the interview ended.

Cary Licktinstine,
Is this a joke?
On which hole did Aaron mark a lower score for Casper?
Also, I thought that Casper's score was not recorded.

That's just terrible. Billy Casper should've been DQed!!!!!!!!!

This means the rules of golf have been corrupted again and golf is going to hell in a handbasket! What we need here and now is Matt Ward or Shivas to begin a ten page post on this incident and how the Rules of Golf must be changed to protect the integrity of the game!!!!!!!   ;)

Dave and Matt, please ignore Mr. Paul's post.  There is nothing to see here, move along, Casper didn't turn in his card so he already got DQ'ed. ;)

Actually, it is not a joke. I heard about it, and started to tell it to my golf group this morning, and they all already knew about it.

We were listening to "Masters Radio" in the car, and Nikolai Lenin was a chump compared to the propoganda that comes from this source.

It was worse than listening to Al Jazeera.

Every interview framed every question so that the only possible answer went something like, "well, Yes, of course, THE MASTERS is the only reason for my existence, and I bow down and worship at the altar of the gods that is the Augusta National membership and Masters tournament committee.  On which tee would you like for me to sacrifice my first born to keep in your good graces?"
