Huck,

I'm not saying it is a s...tty golf hole....I'm saying the pic doesn't fit my eye.   If you combine poor visuals with architecture that fits equally as well on a lake in Florida you get an embarrassingly average hole....sorry.

This shot above was my attempt to recreate this terrific pic
by Neil from the previous year below.  From the actual back
tee (down and to the right, follow the walking path you can
see leading up to the green in the above pic), you can't see
much of 18 at all.  It is 150 yards uphill.  Looking at the pics
side-by-side, I can see that I climbed even higher than Neil did:

Scott,

Looks like your pic taking ability ranks right up there with my architectural analysis....Now that I can see the windmill...I agree this is truly a great hole....I can't win this one now that this evidence has been introduced....I concede..

Yes, I purposefully take my pics using the worst quality
setting on my camera (really), so they're not such huge files
to deal with (both in actual size and hard drive size).  Also,
the one I posted is shrunk down from the original size, so
that also reduces quality.  The lighting on Neil's is much
better (no cloud shadows) and he likes to play with the
coloring of his pics after the pic is taken (don't know about
this one)....I'm definitely at a disadvantage even if I did know what I was doing.

Personally, I'm partial to the picture from this spot that is in Ran's Sand Hills course profile. ;D ;).

Cheers,
Brad

here's that one, seemingly from the exact spot as Neil's.  Mine really does suck!:

I like how the windmill moves from pic to pic...is the shot ever partially blind where the windmill is an aiming point..

Good catch, this pic and Neil's pic are not from the same
spot.  The back tees are down and to the right, the flag stick
is never blind, the windmill is likely blind and if not, it's over
the right hand bunkers.

Here's the perpective of the two holes and where the bunkers
on 18 fall compared to how they look "right next to" 17
green.  The pics above were taken from around the
white "pad" seen here above the 17 tee (no longer a pad)
The windmill is one of those black splotches at lower right
above the massive bottom bunker:
