I demo'd the Husky version and I think they are closer than 2 generations away.  The quality of cut was excellent and if it starts to get dull, it takes 5 minutes to swap out the blades.  I doubt Philly Cricket would be mowing their tennis courts with it unless the quality of cut was perfect.  The problem for me is that the little guys can only mow about an acre apiece and are not terribly cheap.  As the price comes down, and the range goes up, it'll make sense very soon.

As for the big reel mowers, there's no way I'm going to put a bunch of 2 ton mowers with exposed reels running around a golf course.  I have enough problems with people driving them.

Great thread. Saw one a month or two ago mowing the new and as-yet-unopened short game area at Trump National DC. Cool looking little critter. Crazy quiet too.
