Nice article and video on the original rules and a planned tribute to John Rattray, who helped develop them:

As a companion to the six holes on Blackheath Common, here's a quick look at the ancient Leith Links. It was an enjoyable walk to the area from Edinburgh center.

Hole 1, 414 yards Sawmill (Braehead)
Hole 2, 461 yards North Mid Hole
Hole 3, 426 yards East Hole
Hole 4, 495 yards South Mid Hole
Hole 5, 435 yards Thorntree Hole

I love that all five holes were at least 400 yards. That must have been something in 1744!
