Solar Eclipse golf in Upstate NY
« on: March 31, 2024, 08:44:55 AM »
I am going to be in Canadaigua in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY (south of Rochester) from Friday through Monday (4/5 - 4/8) to see the solar eclipse with my wife. She has a workshop on Saturday so I am free to play golf that day. Any recommendations? Looking through the discussion board, I see Bristol Harbour mentioned but it has now closed. Also Reservoir Creek gets some good mentions - although I just noticed they do not open till April 15th (aaahhh). Anyone up for a game?

Ravenwood and Victor hills are close to Canandaigua, NY.

Here are links to photos of those courses.

Victor - grew up in Canandaigua - hope you enjoy it. Now live close by. Best golf would be Greystone, Ravenwood & Reservoir Creek. Centrepoint in town is not a bad option. It's a bit early in the season so conditions might not be optimum but you should enjoy them.

The Bristol Harbour story is heart breaking as it was a great course w/ off the chart views.

I have a house in the 'path of totality' in the Adirondacks ... but too early for golf in those parts. I may stop by Thendara (Old Forge, NY) to see if they are even open.

And if you're headed to the Niagra area, they've already called for a state of emergency due the influx of moon watchers..

I got my parking pass for Saddleback, expecting eighteen inches on Thursday, should be good.

My son is going to be one of the million people in Niagara. Quite by chance he was booked on a college trip to New York that finishes on April 7 and then found out about the eclipse. I'm very envious. Hope it's not cloudy.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Sadly the weather forecast is getting worse and worse for Saturday: chance of rain and snow, then rain; high 47. So golf is starting to look dubious  >:(  But Monday, eclipse day, is predicted at this point to be good:

Mostly sunny with high near 56. Fingers crossed :)
