One of the blow-off classes I took in in undergrad was Introduction to Beaches and Shoreline Processes. While my friends skipped frequently and still passed, I found myself doing extra work and reading because I found it so interesting. I even reached out to the professor during Deepwater Horizon catastrophe, and he was actually on site in Louisiana to help assess the situation and aid in recovery. Catching up and learning about how that was actually being used in the field was really amazing.

Beaches are living, moving, and evolving features. They aren't stable environments in the long term, and links courses would do well to work with experts on the risks and options regarding long-run beach loss, especially in the face of rising sea levels.
