Point Judith CC has 3

I know the routing was changed at least once at Point Judith.  Anyone know if it had only three par 3s in its earlier renditions.

For shame Mike, The Shore Club (aka Wildwood)    Cape May Courthouse NJ

hope to have you back soon>

I think the day we played, we had a temp hole so I am claiming clemency on this mistake.

How does this relate to the original routing of Wildwood?

I’ll see Tim D. on Wednesday night.

Green Pond GC in Bethlehem, PA - Alec Findlay 1931. Three par 3’s, two par 5’s - par 71. Original routing in place. I believe 17.5 original greens as well.

Schuyler Meadows by Devereux Emmet has only three. Number 4,12, and 15.

The 4th plays 210 yards sharply uphill to a magnificent green!

Elie has 2. Deal has 3.

Ciao

And Elie has no par fives. But if no one told you, you'd never guess it had 16 par fours.

Elie is a Unicorn.

'Tis true.  But one thing it, and Sugarloaf Mtn., taught me is that I like courses where the longest and shortest par fours are 200 or so yards apart.  And if the threes have a 100+ yard spread, I like it.

Being a short hitter, par fives are tough regardless.
Over time, the guy in the ideal position derives an advantage, and delivering him further  advantage is not worth making the rest of the players suffer at the expense of fun, variety, and ultimately cost -- Jeff Warne, 12-08-2010

The Country Club (aka "Brookline") has 3 on its Main Course.  The Open Course used in 2022 has 4...and the Open Course used prior to 2022 had 3.

Hollywood Golf Club in NJ has three, the short uphill 4th with volcano like bunkers and the new long 17th Brian Schneider just built are standouts.

I like the balance of two par 3s on each nine. Tillighast long ago said the quality of a course's par 3s go a long way in determining how good the course is and three par 3s just doesn't seem like enough.
