What’s behind not discussing...

all the great new courses being built?

I can’t name any myself because this site is the extent of my exposure. Existing clubs are full, the consumer is flush, stuff has to be in the pipeline. I hear rumors in the wild but see nothing in the DG.

Outside the occasional BDB of course.

Maybe we are like people who listen to classic rock stations and don't want to be exposed to anything new. This part of GCA seems to have moved to Instagram.

Barney,

I went back and looked at all the thread topics just in the last 4 weeks on GCA and found discussions on the following:

Cobbs Creek
A thread about three new Scottish Courses
Cabot Saint Lucia
Tree Farm
New Course at Streamsong
New course in Panama City
New Course in Macharinsh
Gil Hanse course in Coachella
2nd Course at Quivira in Cabo

And this doesn't mention 10-15 or so other thread about Renovation/Restoration work.

Its all right there!  ;)

John:

I’ve got plenty of clients who’d rather I not say anything about their project until it’s underway.

Some are afraid of troubles with permits - and considering the lawsuit over my project in Northern California, it’s hard to say they are overreacting.

Others just want to control the narrative, hand-picking who writes about it and what is said, even by me.  I struggle with that so I have learned not to say much of anything, to avoid offending them somehow.  It’s not as much fun that way, though.

In all, I think I’ve got eight projects signed on and five more where I’ve done routings and expect to be the designer if they come together, but there are only three I can talk about, and on two of those the Keisers would rather do the p.r. themselves.  So, you can expect to hear a lot about my new job in New Zealand, as soon as I get down there (late next week) and clear quarantine (14 days later  :'( ).
