Only recently have bigger projects started to occur (like Turnberry or Machrie). Maybe the restoration market in the UK will flourish in 40 years, returning some of these courses to what they were before. Wentworth West might be a good starting point.

Interesting that the three examples cited are all private owned pay and play rather than traditional members clubs. For that reason I don't see UK courses generally getting the Wentworth treatment as the majority are members clubs that don't have the cash as Duncan says.
