The 4th at Tumble Creek is a left-bending par 5 whose second shot plays abruptly up a steep slope. It might be one of best Tom Doak designed Par-5's, from all I've read.

I'll try to give some visual to the original hole shared. Photos are about 3 years apart. I'll be sure to grab one from the blind area when I play next.

Most drives end up at the bottom of the hill on the fairway. Well below the golfers shown in the photo. I think a couple of trees have been removed on the right. The fairway is one of the widest on the course, but finding it is essential to scoring. Left is dead in the woods. Too far right puts you on #2 fairway, generally with a downhill lie, trying to get through a chute of trees, with the hole going back uphill.

From tee:

The fairway runs out about 90 yards from the green. A prudent mid/long iron layup to this area gives a wedge into the green. Those going for the green in two will likely have to loft a long iron / hybrid / fairway wood up enough to clear the hill. Short right is just fine. In the summer time when everything is dried out, missing the green, possibly the largest on the course, can mean death. I may have seen the thread's author long of the green by a good 60-70 yards, down in the valley which the par 3 6th demands a carry over.

Picture taken during recent renovations by Hurdzan Group. Sadly, Miami View's own "Rory" tree has since been removed. This used to be the perfect target for aiming right side of the green. Players now need to now that the trees on the left side are most certainly not the aiming point.

The 15th at Worcester Country Club (MA) fits this description. The tee shot is to a tight fairway with a slight cant, surrounded by high fescue. The hole then turns right and climbs up to the highest point on the property.

Jason,

I think the 9th at Cedar Rapids fits this description very well, all you can see after the drive is a well-positioned flag pole behind the green.  The crest of the hill is about 50-60 yards short of the green making the green a bit more reachable in two.  Definitely some anticipation building as the green becomes visible.

Does 1m vertical count as uphill?

Carnoustie's Spectacles... off the back tee. Amazing hole.

#8 at Barnbougle - doesn't the second shot on this hole into the prevailing wind play blind most of the time. As far as I remember it does.

The 8th at Barnbougle is actually a par-4, because it plays downwind 75% of the time.

One reason I don't worry too much about how well-traveled guys rate my courses is that they don't necessarily remember them very well.

To be fair, I can't remember those par-5 holes at Noordwijk too well, either.  Every one of them seemed to require a blind second shot up [and/or over] a bluff.

Tom,

Funny, I would of sworn the 8th was a par 5 without looking up the scorecard. However, I had enough doubt to list that one as a question. In fact it's been a few years now but I've played the hole 3 times, not on the same day and the wind was howling straight into your face on every play. For me it was an uphill par 5 with a blind second shot every time.

I can pretty much remember every hole on the course, so I guess that's a compliment even though you made your best snide remark as per usual. Regardless of your PR tactics it's still part of a great run of holes albeit a super tough one against the wind. By the way, I had #1 as an easy par 4. Driver, wedge in the conditions I played in.

As to Noordwijkse, nothing I'd like more than to have you come convince the club to fix the mess and while your at it please get them to allow you to re-route it into something that does the land justice. Please!

Hole #13 at Silloth comes to mind.

I've linked to John Mayhugh's excellent thread where he describes the hole here:

No more fun shot than the 2nd over the Gumbley bunker on the 16th at Southport & Ainsdale.

Criss' photos aren't showing for me, but as I'm clearing out photos from this year I realized I have a few of the hole cited in the OP.

Here's a look at the landing zone from maybe 100 yards in front of the tee. You can see that the fairway rolls downhill to a large flat area before heading steeply uphill on the second shot. OB pinches tight left. The green is not in this shot, but located behind the tallest branch sticking up from the trees on the left side of the photo.

A second shot that crests the hill reveals this look at the green. Big hitters can reach in two, but a drive long enough to reveal a view of the green is very rare. Slopes right of the green help feed a ball in, but anything left of the pin in the photo gets shunted hard left into a gully.

The view from the gully offers a small taste of the challenge that awaits an indifferent layup or misplayed attempt to reach in two. It's a very tough up-and-down, especially with the front left side of the green slightly crowned. In general, the green is one of the larger and more heavily contoured ones on the course.
