It's good to see a list like this

I know that some may disagree with the list in some context but the general point being made to those considering a trip to Scotland is that there are so many courses and so many options that you can play that won't break the bank to offset those that you are paying too much to play.

and often the best and most authentic experiences to be had.
Both before, after and during the round.

The dirty little secret is many of these courses, though often compact, allow tourists to pick their tee color/yardage rather than shoving them to the 5700 yard yellows so common on the "name" courses"-resulting in a wide variety of yardage choices, and usually actually allowing a more varied(or at least as designed) test for low handicap golfers.

Always a good sign when there are no buses or Sprinters in the car park.

Yikes, that's 10 more crackers that'll be busier over the next few years!
More seriously for the moment, there are loads and loads of under the usual radar courses that folks travel past or stay nearby yet don't get played by many visitors in the UK. Indeed apart from remote locations it's difficult to travel more than 10-15 miles in the UK without passing by a course thats perfectly decent and will present a visitor with a different and memorable golfing experience. Likely light on the wallet too and a good way to 'meet the locals' rather than bump into other golf tourists.
Folks don't navigate by hand held map anymore. Shame as these usually have little flags denoting the location of golf courses so it's easy to spot the site of a course on route or nearby somewhere famous.
There are many gems and wee crackers to be found in the UK. With a bit of research they are very findable.

Thanks David. I had a lovely little flurry of orders from across the world after the shoutout here a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully they are dropping through some letterboxes around now. Much appreciated!

David, I got mine last week.  Thanks for the effort.
