Ira -

I think #5 at Golspie has more quirk than #7 at Golspie, but can't remember how it compares to #5 at Lahinch (which I last played 25 years ago).

Number 5 at Golspie is a favorite, but you need to make it back to Lahinch for many reasons including seeing how the Dell is even quirkier.

No 3rd holes nominated yet, so I’ll throw in the 3rd at Shiskine.

Interesting that you picked the 11th at Minch Old although I am aware of your fondness for it. I was pondering the 13th there with its diagonal bulwark ramparts but then again the 13th at Strandhill is pretty cool.

How about the 18th at Llandrindod Wells - the wonderfully named “Death or Glory” - for the 18th?

I like the surprise finish of Minch Old's 11th. Though it is a better and funkier hole using the far left tee...which I haven't seen used in a while. The setting of the green is pretty funky as well.

I can't think of a funky 18th off the top of my head, but LW's final hole isn't all that funky.

Listing Temple brought back very good memories.  Its such a simple funk hole, maybe too simple for archies to think about!

When I first saw the hole I thought it was a long par 5 (see green to the left), but then we discovered another set of tees further up and decided to investigate by looking at the card.  It is hard to believe there is a green tucked out in that field, but there is one most certainly at about 235 yards out.

In a strange sort of way, the hole reminds me of a macro version of putting into a hole.  One blasts a shot out there and hopes it collects into the completely blind bowl.  I can imagine many not liking this hole, but it is akin to sprouts.  There is no use in complaining.  The damn things are on the plate so they must be eaten.

Yes, L&B's 18 is fairly funky. Do you think it would be a better hole with the tee right of 17 green?

What hole is that 5-tiered fwy at Newton St. Cyre's?  There looks to be a lot of weird stuff out there.
