If courses like Augusta, Bethpage, or Pebble Beach were not scrutinized by all watching on TV for how green and lush they looked, would courses be presented any differently?

Would the wall to wall brown that the world was exposed too at Pinehurst in 2014 be meet with the same head scratch by so many if it was just a different color grey on our screens?

Does the visual of a course on TV impact the decision as to how it's setup?

Ben.
Good question.
This matter's been touched on herein a few times before. For what its worth I reckon that golf courses would probably be a less pampered, less perfect, less manicured, scruffier even, if TV and photography were still only in black and white.
Different shades of green with yellow sand and blue water are usually pretty eye catching in comparison to B&W.
I reckon other aspects of the game, like clothing etc would probably be blander too. I wonder if media and advertising interest would be less as a result?
It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of someone who is colourblind. I wonder if any architects are?
