Listening to architects and others in the business

There’s lots to learn from history. Indeed what happened a few seconds ago somewhere on the planet is now history.

From a GCA perspective wouldn’t it be interesting and educational to be able to listen to Old Tom Morris or Harry Colt or James Braid or Alister MacKenzie or any other prominent person working in golf architecture or a related aspect of the game in the past talk and hear their thoughts etc?

Okay some folks from yesteryear wrote articles or books on the subject and some plans and photographs exist but wouldn’t it be nice to have more?

These days with podcasts and video interviews and the Internet this is possible, although it would be nice if they collected and collated too, but that’s another topic for another day.

So here’s something to be going along with - David McLay Kidd taking about Bandon Dunes etc - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p075vddm

If there are other such interviews or talks, whether purely verbal or including video, by all means add them to this thread.

ASGCA is filming many of its members for memories.  Not sure where they are posting them.

Of course, the standard reaction from members asked to film such a piece usually prompts a "I must be dying" response..... :o
