Niall - the SWWOG I watched was from 15-20 years ago, at what was the 'Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle'. As I say, it looked like a fine course (in that wind) even then. And then, as the corollary to my previous post, I think: yes, and without any wind, most courses in Scotland (except for the bad ones) look like very good ones -- because it seems like you could play most all of them with just a putter, every shot trundling along that excellent turf forever, and up onto those at-grade greens. Just a trifle to say: from afar, I find it more difficult than usual to reach conclusions/make judgement about the architecture of Scottish courses.
