First Architect to Open office in Pyongyang?
« on: June 12, 2018, 08:26:27 PM »
Who will be the fist architect to open an office in Pyongyang?

Related: any good candidates for new courses?  North Korea must be one of the best opportunities for unspoiled coast line to come on line in some time.
The trouble with modern equipment and distance—and I don't see anyone pointing this out—is that it robs from the player's experience. - Mickey Wright

Trump?!? IIRC he considered himself an “architect” and “made changes” on many of his courses in the past. :o

Before you do we had fax machines and furniture disappear forever along with our Moscow office back in the late 80s or early 90s. Those protesting students cashed in on us dumb Americans. We were too scared to go back and look for anything.

This could be somebody's big chance to design a seaside course ... I won't compete for that one  :)

Maybe Schmidt-Curley.
I hope they make the first hole of their first course a "gentle handshake" type -- for when the Revered Leader hits the ceremonial opening tee shot.
I'd humbly suggest a wide open, hazard-free, significantly down hill tee shot, with a fairway sloping dramatically down from the landing zone towards the bunkerless, opened-fronted first green; a 'short Par 4', I'd suggest, perhaps some 160 yards long from the tips.

My dad’s uncle spent some time north of the 38th parallel in 1950. He didn’t think the climate was particularly conducive for golf.

Did we forget Cuba so quickly?

Or are they now back on the bad guys list with Canada, England and Germany?

Ron Prichard, I bet he's on his way right now.
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

I would not “open a office “, but I am ready to work in North Korea.
We have a french travel agent who live with a North Korean women and says it’s totally safe .

I worked in Morocco for the last two years. And it was supposed to be a very dangerous country! The most dangerous place to be was the airport ... in Paris !!

It should be great to teach golf there too !
 ;)

I am also ready to go to Cuba.

Tom,

You can count on me for follow up work and shaping if you have a course to design in North Korea !
You just need to come once for routing .
