Greens can look great on tv—-Riviera’s do

It’s not just how they look to the eye. It’s how they look when players are playing them and ending up with unfavorable results.

Players can’t seem to figure out either the speed or the line.

294 yard 7 wood.
The only way of really finding out a man's true character is to play golf with him. In no other walk of life does the cloven hoof so quickly display itself.

Slightly serious Mayday cheap shot coming....  :D

How much has Mayday played on the West Coast? Okay, the real question is, has Mayday been west of Oakmont? :)

The grass out there really is different. Summer vs winter on the same course makes "Florida over-seeding" seem like a walk in the park.

BUT, Mayday is not 100% wrong. Riviera looks awesome and I really need to tap into the Wifey's "Cousin Laurie Network" for an invite. We are in Santa Monica once or twice a year....

Family was in LA for three years and I played Rustic Canyon twice.  I loved it. I played a nondescript course south of LA which was uninspiring but with fun company.

I know Whitemarsh CC (George Thomas, Philly) is not what it was, but I would love to go back. My buddy who I grew up with swore it off, so when you need a "B Team" player to fill the spot at Whitemarsh, let me know.

Uphill.

I didn't watch this, but what player that can hit a 7 wood 294 uphill is actually carrying a 7 wood and not a 2 iron? These guys have egos that made it hard to go with hybrids until maybe 10 years ago, but 7 wood?

If I recall correctly, Vijay used to carry a 9 wood back in his prime.  Although i'm pretty sure he wasn't hitting it 290...more like 220-225
