Bobby Jones Golf Club

Anyone played it?

Do they read much or do any homework?

From the Bobby Jones Club website

The new Bobby Jones features a unique, revolutionary reversible

golf course, with multiple tees and large double greens that allow for two pin placements on each green. You can play it twice – for 18 holes – and experience a different course the second time around. But, it gets better; Bobby Jones is

reversible

and can be played one direction one day and the exact opposite direction the next – two completely different golf experiences known as our Magnolia and Azalea courses. This very unusual design was envisioned by the late and world-renowned Bob Cupp, and will be the only golf course of its kind it in the United States.

That’s revolutionary!

I haven't yet, but I plan to give it a shot sometime soon once the weather improves (it's supposed to rain every day for the next two weeks here). I have to find a weekday morning where I can skip out of work for a couple of hours, though. Playing on a public course in Atlanta (the actual city, not out in the suburbs) on a weekend is asking for a 6+ hour round.

I think there was another thread where someone mentioned playing it, though.

My guess is that's just marketing speak and they have no idea what they're talking about.

With that said, though -- could they be right? The Loop is a reversible 18; this is only a reversible 9. Are there any other reversible 9 holers out there?

I hear good things about it from my friends in the area. Each time I've been thinking about heading over, it's rained. I hear the design is solid, although the intended routes of play are not ideal in a few instances.

If it ever stops raining  :'(  it'll be one of the first places on my 2019 hit list.

I've played it in both directions.  I thought it was a lot of fun for what they had to work with.  There are a lot of good decisions made - getting rid of the rough and most of the trees will help speed up play.  It is very walkable in both directions.  The greens are very well done and a lot of fun.  Let me know what questions you have an I'll try to answer.

William Flynn designed and built a reversible nine hole course for the Rockefellers in the late 1930s called Pocantico Hills on the estate in Tarrytown/Sleep Hollow called Kykuit.
I was fortunate enough to play the course about 18 years ago.   It seems to still exist but the current maintenance is questionable, although current photos on GoogleMaps seems to indicate white sand in the bunkers.
Not clear to me how well known this design is since it is so unusual.   There have been magazine articles written that described the course.
