Somewhat interesting link on golf courses
« on: May 11, 2016, 06:21:39 PM »
Found this link when surfing the net the other day.

http://www.businessinsider.com/best-golf-courses-around-the-world-2016-5

Heard of/know about most of them.
Played a few of them.
But there are a few I never knew existed and was curious if others had thoughts or experience with them.

Enjoy!

Kalen:

Which courses were you unfamiliar with?  For me, the only one was that Nullarbor Links in Australia is kind of a real thing.  I thought it was just a cross-Outback survival contest of some sort ... apparently, you go from town to town and play one or two holes on the courses along the route.  I can't imagine that many people actually do it.

I think I've been to all of them except that one, and the one in Alaska.  Was surprised to find that I had built two of them!

Also, the last picture may be of some course in Japan, but it's not Hirono.  Kudos to the club that they've managed to keep photos of the course mostly off the Internet!

Hey Tom,

Just 4...

Mauritius' Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club - No clue which country this was in and was a surprise to hear its off the coast of Madagascar.

Yas Links - Didn't know they had a links course in Dubai... ;)

Sandy Lane - Interesting little Monkey in the design, nice touch.  I'm sure there are lots of courses in the Caribbean that I'm not aware of.

Himalayan Golf Course - Based on the picture this was the most intriguing...

Funny that she called the article 32 courses that all golfers must play.

With the likes of Pine Valley, Oakmont and Augusta on there, she might not know they are a tad bit difficult for every golfer to play.

Tom, you're courses were not only included, you were called Legendary! That's a pretty awesome compliment.

Btw, the club being shown in the photo is: Higashi Hirono or Hirono East and it's a sister club of Hirono. The wrong photo.

Maybe this is widely known but Sand Hills has 19 holes?
