Jason,
I think only Jon Byron took a couple of shots on the first tee.  Maybe if those boys have finally poured themselves out of the Tantallon clubhouse this evening, he'll post them up...!
Cheers

Just about getting my act together after a weekend in East Lothian. Well done to all who attended, really enjoyed the day and your company at Gullane. Well done to Mark for winning the sweep and making the trip up from England, as well as Jon W from Inverness way and Jon B from New York via Ireland. I'm pretty sure Jon B much preferred the weather in East Lothian to that in New York at the moment !

Niall

ps. might be an idea for another clan gathering later in the year. May or June might be a nice time to visit Forfar ! Any thoughts ?

Another possibility Martin and I discussed briefly was the second half of July in Fife but definitely a good idea to get something arranged.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I had a great time at Gullane both the visit to the museum which is somewhere that every golf history buff should see and playing Gullane No. 3 which was in great nick and real fun. Good to see so many GCAers both new faces and old. Big thanks to Niall for organising it and getting so many together in January.

I would be happy to play either or both Forfar and Fife though no chance last two weeks in May or first week in June as I have a groups including one of 42 people for this time to look after during this time.

I'm glad to hear you all had a good time at Gullane. Having something planned for the summer sounds good.

Angus or Fife...and Sophie thought she had a tough choice to make.   ;)

Thanks to Niall for organising the gathering at Gullane Golf Club.

I had the privilege of playing with Rich & Josie Goodale, and very much enjoyed their company. It was nice to put faces to the names of some of the other GCA'ers of whom I had not met before.

Gullane 3 is an honest little course, and was in good condition for this time of year. There were some wet patches (e.g on the 14th fairway) but the greens were running particularly well. The course is not full of much design interest, but has some short holes with some interest – e.g. 6th, 12th holes.  The best hole and green is the 16th, especially the front section. The bunkers across the course are fairly poorly placed and offer little strategic interest. The views from on top of the hill at the 4th green and 15th tees offer expansive views of North Berwick around to Edinburgh. Overall the course is like the new Snoopy movie - well presented and provides light entertainment, has some highlights, is non-offensive and fine for the family, but not strongly memorable.  Where my analogy fails, is that I would play the course again if needed, but very unlikely to watch the Snoopy Movie again.

Well done to Mark for winning the closely contested sweep. Sorry it was not enough money to cover your petrol costs back to Newcastle.

Thanks Niall. Great gathering. East Lothian is fantastic, Gullane is very fun. I ended up playing 90 holes in 4 days!
I do have the pics of the 3 ball group and the 4 ball group, but I cannot upload them on GCA. Not sure how I can make that work. I can send them to anyone who send me their email.
Haven't played since yesterday, not playing until tomorrow, hardly playing at all!

Jon,

I enjoyed the round we had at North Berwick and hope our paths cross in the future. What did you think of Kilspindie?

Much like Gullane it is fantastic to have a course in the heart of a charming town/village in East Lothian. Like North Berwick it has gorgeous views overlooking the North Sea coastline so wind is a one/two/three club factor.  Classic holes, very fun and walkable, plus strategic bunkers on many greens. And I played with a local member who sensibly walked his dog with us! Nice.

These are not the droids you're looking for. They're the official asspics of the event!!!

Byron, Muldoon, Bonnar (Good name for a 70s jazz fusion combo).

Pearce, Wiggett, Carlton, Jones. (Great name for a dodgy Glasgow law firm).

We missed getting a shot of the other group. Sorry, Goodales and MacPherson.

If these are to big on your screen, let me know and I'll shrink them a bit.

Cheers,
F.
