I love "finding" courses.  I stumbled onto a couple this summer in western Colorado.  There are some little gems in lotsa places.  They are courses we may only play once but enjoy because we have no expectations.

Sorry gents for I fear I was as clear as mud. The £60 green fee I referred to had nothing to do with Killin. I was making the point, very badly, that the term 'little gem' (or 'hidden gem' even) is often applied to places which are neither hidden nor little nor what I'd regard as a gem. In contrast, Killin is every bit the 'little gem.'
