Re: Saturday Morning / "Prime Time" Tee Times at your Club...

I took "clique" to mean groups who were mutually antagonistic or who disputed over leadership of the club or over tee times or whatever. Nothing like that at my club.

Was it supposed to just a regular group who play together? Obviously my club like every other place I've ever seen has guys with a standing game every Saturday and Sunday. That's universal, isn't it?

I would not use the term "clique" for that.

"Clique" to me is just a group of mates who usually prefer to play together rather than play in random groups.  Nothing antagonistic about it.  I find it hard to believe that there are many courses on the planet without cliques.

I disagree. A 'clique' is more than just a group of buddies. The word suggests a group that is resistant to others joining and which is even antagonistic to outsiders.

I hear stories of such cliques at many clubs. Fortunately they do not exist at mine.

Bearwood Lakes has a roll up between 7 and 10. You can't book times, but you pitch up and the pro sorts people out into groups based on time or arrival and elements of preference. After 10 is normal bookable time slots 10 mins apart.

Women can play anytime they like.

There is a starter, a member of staff rather than a member volunteer to keep things moving along.

If it weren't for cliques private courses wouldn't exist whose primate purpose is to keep out the kind of person who complains about cliques.
