Crump Cup Info?
« on: September 08, 2003, 01:13:05 PM »
It's September, and Pine Valley's annual Crump Cup is near.  Pine Valley is to me almost a surreal experience, and I can't wait to walk the grounds again.

I know it's the last weekend of September, but beyond that, does anybody have any information about the logistics?

Tickets? Parking?  Saturday and/or Sunday?  What time?  Obviously, there isn't exactly a Pine Valley GC website where we can find this info  ;)

The only time I've ever been to Pine Valley previously was for the Philadelphia Open, and they bussed us to the front gate from the Clementon Park amusement park's lots...

Thanks!

Sunday, I believe, is the day for public attendance.

The day I went in 1993, we just showed up and parked out on Atlantic Ave. and walked in.

For more info, look up the club's phone number on golfcourse.com and call them.

Here's the scoop...

Public invited to the Crump Cup on Sunday, September 28.  Gates open @1pm.

No parking near the club.  Signs in the Clementon area will direct you to parking, and shuttles will be provided.  Donations for the shuttle service are for the Clementon Area Youth Association.

Have fun!

Just curious- how is one selected to play in the Crump Cup?

You have to have a member sponsor and get invited. But obviously the tournament committee can and does send out invitations to some significant mid-ams such as a Trip Kuehne. I did ask a clearly disappointed Kuehne at Ganton if he was going this year and he said he wasn't completely sure (had something to do with not being at work much recently) but he did say he had his plane reservations to Philly ready to go.

I guess when I went in 1993, it wasn't as popular, because parking was just outside the gates along Atlantic.  Didn't walk more than 100-200 yards.  Times change.

The Crump Cup is PVGC's main annual invitational golf tournament for members and guests. It's been going on for a lot of years, a lot of decades and is compiled of a full field of some pretty damn low handicap golfers. If one did a mean on the field's handicaps it generally gets into the plus side, certainly in the mid-am division.
