Anyone else having problems accessing the site?
« on: July 24, 2012, 01:27:11 PM »
For the last week or so, the site has sometimes failed to load, or taken a long time to load.  Anyone else having this problem lately?  Years ago I had problems with the site, but that was solved when it was moved to a new host.

Yes, but I figrued it was my crappy old Dell that was the problem.

It's probably not your computer, but rather the quality and quantity of your internet connection. If other customers have been added in quantity to the lines accessing the internet, your connection can degrade. Of course, if the website server has the same problem, we can see degradation from that.

To clarify my original post, I am having problems at the office, and at home and on my mobile device.  So it is not a local issue (equipment or connectivity) for me.

Yes. It seems better today but it has failed to load on several occasions over the past few days.

I've run a few trace routes...and the timeouts are happening on that end.  It doesn't look like its Ran's server, but somewhere along his path to get there.

Me too.  I have been writing in word processor then cut and paste it to the reply box when posting.  Otherwise, to get it to reload after being in compose mode for only a few minutes, it fails to post and requires reloading the page, requiring me to X it out, and come back from another home page.  Then, if I paste the reply, and hit send immediately, it usually goes through.  But, it is annoying.

That's why the 1st 3 hops are omitted!! :)

But right you are Joe, Sprint has indeed been having big time issues with thier network.  Its way too small for what they are trying to do to play with the big boys...

Ditto from Canada as well and the preview button doesn't seem to work for me either - it just says Fetching preview... and nothing happens.

The pages are really slow to load both at work and at home and I have a very fast (75Mbps) home internet connection.

I don't think that "Preview" button has worked in quite a while ... it'll be "fetching" forever ...

Jim,

You're correct.  The preview button hasn't worked correctly in a couple of years now...

...and for the rest of the crowd, that jibberish I posted a couple of hours ago shows the problem is with Sprint, specifically in locations in the Midwestern part of the US.  So don't bother using a different browser, Ipads, Iphones, as the problem isn't on our end and it won't help.

Perhaps Ran needs to find a new ISP that isn't contracted out thru Sprints network....   :(

It has been finicky.  But it does work some of the time in my hands.

"Preview" and "Quote" haven't worked for me in ages. I have to manually quote others' posts and cannot preview at all.

As for access problems (can anyone get me onto the Reverse Jans on a Saturday morning in July?!), I only have them on my phone (Samsung Galaxy 3S), with pages failing to load more often than not.
