Philadelphia Cricket Club-St. Martin's to be restored
« on: June 26, 2012, 08:34:40 AM »
Rather than insert this in the Early US Open courses thread, here is Joe Logan's article on the restoration of the remaining 9 holes of St. Martins:

http://digital.globalgolfpost.com/philly/20120625#pg27
"Some of us worship in churches, some in synagogues, some on golf courses ... "  Adlai Stevenson
Hyman Roth to Michael Corleone: "We're bigger than US Steel."
Ben Hogan “The most important shot in golf is the next one”

The majority of the restoration work is complete. Bunkers rebuilt. Greens expanded. And done with aeration cores.

Our Director of Grounds has posted photos information here: http://philacricketgm.blogspot.com

The work was done with in house labor during the off season. The crew is justifiably proud and we are lucky to have a team that improved St Martins before the closing of Wissahickon for restoration.

Plus there are four sets of hickories available to enjoy play as it was for the 1907 & 1910 US Opens.
