O/T Playing with an old friend
« on: May 26, 2012, 06:15:21 PM »
I am joining John and Katie Berhardt for a few holes at MPCC tomorrow afternoon.

If you have time drop him an IM and wish him well.

Thanks,

Bob

Did he boom the first one off the tee and then complain about missing the face? ;D

Sam that will be a joke I am waiting to be true. lol I did a distance check on the range today. I am down 15 to 20 yards a club and 50 off the driver. So I will join Bob on the gentleman's tees. I am very excited to play again. It has been a while to be on something besides a range which is not bad living either.

With that lost yardage we are about even in length.

I would warm up on that range looking down towards the ocean.  Enjoy the day!

Tiger,

Forget about the scorecard and the yardages, just have a wonderful day back on the course with Katie and Bob.

It's been a hard road, but back on the course?   Yippie ki yay!   Have fun.   Thanks for the post, Bob, that is such good news.

Good on ya mates.

We should consider a "back from oblivion open". All of us that have been able to return to golf, after years or months of suffering.

On an aside. One golfing bud, had to have surgery this week. He's stuck with a catheter and accompanying bag, for two weeks. On his third day after surgery, he felt strong enough to golf. He kicked everyone's arses.

I'm suggesting selling the apparatus in the pro-shop. It clearly helps one's game.

Is the June gloom in?

I sure hope someone in the group has a camera.  I'd love to see the sight of the beautiful young lady with the two great men, having a beautiful day by the MB Peninsula.

Tiger,

Golf is a wonderful medicine, enjoy your day and don't worry about loss of distance, just take more club.

Bob,

Thanks for being such a great host.

Patrick,

John has been a fellow member for a couple of years now. I cannot tell you what MPCC  does for him when he is here.

John,

Glad to hear you are out playing.  I'd love to hear the negotiations for strokes and such on the first tee.  No doubt you there will be plenty more lamenting about lost distance and such.

My best to the three of you.

David.

Bob will post the picture Katie emailed to him. We had a wonderful time on the Shore Course at MPCC filled with many sad and pathetic attempts to play the game called golf. All in all a wonderful afternoon was spent on the Pacific Ocean living the life all GCA guys love. I doubt either of us would have broken 90 but ironically I hit more good shots than most days on the practice tee.  I treasure the time shared with Bob here over the years. Maybe by the next trip he will be able to understand what I am saying. The progress on being able to speak in an understood way is as they say slow, even very slow but steady. Actually if it is quiet, one can understand most of what I say. But in the wind on the golf course it is hard. Thanks for the well wishes guys and I wish all of you were here too. They made me feel great and looking forward to the chemo later this week and then a few weeks later a week off to do this again. cheers Tiger

Thanks for that, Mike, I love to see smiling faces. Hope you don't mind, I modified it a little.

Just seeing this thread for the first time.  Thanks for the report, Bob, and enjoyed seeing the picture.  I imagine there was a bit of wind that day?

Tiger, not that NCAA women's softball is a big area of interest to me, but I'll be paying attention to the #1 ranked Cal Bears against your Tigers in the College World Series on Thursday.

Good to see 2 of my favorites on the course.  Too bad the picture cut off the shoes; I wanted to see whether John brought out the LSU specials.  Be well.

SL you are my hero. You not only have the shoes but will sport the uglier version with your head held high. I was in Freddie's that day so I would have let you down. Bob as usual wore socks that would shock the consience of any self respecting fashionista. Kevin, I was pleased this team made it to the college world series. Winning two of three on the road is tough. I do not think they are Cal Bear ready this year. The women's golf team did us proud with a 3rd in the NCAA's last weekend. It was the second straight 3rd national finish. Next year we need a to move up a few places for a championship. It is always a grand day when one is with Bob.
