9 holes with no par 3's?
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:52:22 PM »
Yesterday I played Navy GC (Cypress, CA) which does not have a par 3 until #9.  I figured that had to at least tie a record for first par 3 coming latest in the round.  Then I thought that maybe there are some courses with no par 3's in the first 9 holes...  (Sevillano links in the par 90 configuration doesn't count).

maybe I should have phrased my post in the form of a question to get more discussion.  Does anyone know of a course with no par 3's on one of the 9's?

Can't think of one off the top of my head.

I did grow up playing a course (Meadow Hills in Aurora, CO) which, despite have 5 par 3s, has an 8-hole stretch without any. You get par 3s at 2 and 4, then not until 13, but then again at 15 and 17.

Was that Tiger's home course as a kid?

The Island in Dublin starts with 8 straight 4's, then the 9th is a 3.

Ah, thank you.  Yes, I've played that one too.  So, at best, I tied a personal record on Sunday for latest par 3.

If you are refering to Tiger Woods, the pro golfer, yes, I believe he did play there quite a bit as a youth.
