It looks like it closed in 2003 or 2004.  Shame too because it was a great little alternative course.  Not as valuable as the real estate obviously.

I did a Master Plan for Bermuda Hundred in Chester to convert it to an 18 hole facility.  The land to the east was looked at.  I often wonder how hard it would have been to close it if it had been converted to 18 holes.

Just saw this today!  Would love to see your master plan....did you ever play Bermuda Hundred?  I tried it once, with my non-playing brother during my wife's baby shower for our first. 

I think if there was a 18 hole golf option in that location that was of the same quality/value as Providence it probably would have been pretty successful. 

River's Bend (which seems to be in a death spiral at least based on the last time I played there) is a little more out of the way, always had some really bad holes, and lost whatever minimal charm it had when they built all the housing on the back 9.
