Instead of crossing over number 12 to go to 9 play 12 as 9. After the present 18 you play 10,11,9 as 16,17,18.

This answers all those who prefer a strong finish since it would end with a strong par 3, a nice 4, and the present number one handicap long par 5.

Now it is 36/35 with 3 threes and two short 5's on the back.

The new would be 35/36 with three 5's and three 3's on the back. Two short 5's and one brute with one short 3 and two brutes.

The strong current 13 14 15 would be 10 11 12. The supposed weak 16 ( short 3) 17 18 ( short 5's) would be a respite before the new finish.

I don't care myself but I present this to give others what they want without changing the course.

Does this change the architectural experience?

Mike, I like you're thinking but pace of play on the back nine might suffer a bit with three par 5's and three par 3's.  I like you're idea on having current 12 play as new 9 (especially if you move the tees around and sometimes make it driveable).  I personally like the 18th as a reachable par 5 to finish versus current 9 as a finish with everyone playing it as a three-shot hole.

Mayday,

Are you questioning the routing sequencing of Billy Flynn??   That's heresy in these here parts.     :-X ;D

Mike,

I'm really suggesting that it doesn't matter how the course is played . It isn't any better or worse if played in a different sequence.
But if you insist that it should have a stronger close that can be done easily.

Just teasing you, Mayday.

I actually think what you've proposed is rather clever.

If we alternated play for a month I wonder if handicaps would change or whether competitors would notice a change.

Now strokes on the front are 9 8 then 2 1 so usually the strokes matter at the end of a Nassau. The back usually has no strokes after 15. This would change to strokes given at the end of the match.

Members play all sorts of sequences during a day.
