Right around the 1 hour 50 minute mark of the NBC Sports Gold replay of the Payne's Valley Cup, Gary Player goes into a rant about cutting down trees. Makes a comparison to the deforestation of the Amazon, talks about Royal Melbourne being a tree-lined course, all the great ones (also cites Pine Valley and Augusta National.) Simply says, stop cutting down trees. Ends with "if you don't know how to get a golf course into shape, brush up on your knowledge."
Thoughts? I think that last line is rife with opportunity for superintendents to comment.
