Adam Clayman:

Not tongue-in-cheek but totally serious.

1) I think the center of the fairway ought to be a safe place to hit it and, most importantly (to me) 2) fairway bunkers of any stripe that a long hitter can carry with no penalty annoy me - that especially applies to those located "center cut".

I didn't know the archives were edited.

Chip- Especially after my recent trip, I accept your preference, and respectfully, mine are diametrically opposite. Centerline, or line of instinct, hazards create the obstacles that make for thought provoking play. Down the middle, is often hardly thought provoking, only shot testing. Desert Forest was one that fits both bills due to the natural movement to the fairways and creative use of push-up greens.

Televised golf probably influenced more Green Chairman, Board members and members resulting in more changes to golf courses than any other influence

In a humble golf course maintenance shed, a little child is born...and the ghosts of three drunken ODGs appear there ...as the gentle late-afternoon light magnfies the site's natural contours ...and as high above the NGLA a blimp marks the occasion...while the ODGs present the child with "A World Atlas of Golf", a shovel, and Pete Dye's address and telephone number...and as in fields of play across the land a shout rises up the the heavens..."Make these damn golf courses more strategic and playable by ALL level of golfers!"

Patrick,

The topic is  "greatest moments", not worst moments.

A bit off the beaten path...

Bobby Jones retires at the age of 30 and selects Mackenzie to help him at ANGC.

Why is this important. What has ANGC beget? Hasn't ANGC begotten more in the US after RTJ modified it than it beget before RTJ?

Cornel allows a young whipper snapper to design his own course that includes a paid class caddying in Scotland

Are you talking about Cornell grad RTJ? ;)

Pascucci teams up Doak and Nicklaus

Why? Nicklaus will suddenly begin building great courses? The course will host the women's US Open?

Bandon Dunes debuts highly in the rankings

Dye builds The Golf Club

Garland, you're correct, so I'll amend my post to the televising of the Walker Cup in 2013  ;D
