Maidstone and Perry Maxwell
« on: January 31, 2002, 11:44:41 AM »
I think this may have been mentioned recently, but can't find the thread.  Does anyone that has the club history know if there is any mention of Maxwell working on the course?

Chris,

Yes, Maxwell did, and I posted a pretty lengthy piece about it some months back that I copied verbatim from the excellent recent club history, "The Maidstone Links".

If you need more info, I'll try to find it for you.  However, I would also tell you that most of what Maxwell recommended (after a major hurricane in 1934) was never implemented.

Today, the course is maybe about 2% Maxwell, to give you some idea.

Don't know what the Maidstone history says about Perry Maxwell but #17 green is apparently Maxwell--Bill Coore is about certain of that!
