Post your favorite golf coure picture thread
« on: April 11, 2011, 04:42:25 PM »
Hello, dear all!

In anticipation of the upcoming  golfing season (still about two weeks till I could hit a golf ball from the grass) I would like to ask everyone  to post his/her favorite golf course picture showing the beauty  of GCA in its best.

It doesn't really matter if such picture was taken by you or somebody else, unless the copyright is violated, of course.  Sorry if there is this kind of thread already, I searched and didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

Is it a violation to post a link to one of your own picture threads?!

Here is one of my faves called "Bedford Springs in the Fall:  Glorious"

http://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,36949.0.html

This has Mike Cirba's favorite opening hole in golf, and I believe the entire 18 holes is Ryan Farrow's No 1 layout.   ;)

Joe Bausch did a regional photo tour of Southern IN last year that included the Ross course at French Lick. I don't think the photos work in the original GCA thread, but here is a link to his pics at another site:

I am a native Hoosier, so there is assuredly some bias, but I thought this photo tour was fantastic. I've not had a chance to play it yet, but this tour provides significant motivation...

I'll try to fix that original thread tomorrow and host those pics on a different server.

Okay, here's one from the fall last year at St. George's on Long Island. A view of the 13th green with the 16th green behind:

This is a picture of the 4th hole of Purgatory GC near Indianapolis, IN.  It's not my favorite hole, but it is probably my favorite picture of all the pictures I have taken.

That's my favorite one, too.

And that Golf Club thread has more photos of the course than any other link in the entire reaches of the internet.

As for a photo itself, I don't even pretend to know what I'm doing when taking them, but this was my favorite from last season.

That flag should read Property of Jonathan Becker the way you played that hole.

Carr,

You know what's crazy is that ever since Jim Colton talked about the Dormie Club logo being too popular of a flag to be a logo, I've seen it everywhere now!  I just noticed it in this photo, too, as I posted it.  Today alone, I've seen photos from OM, Kirtland, Portrush, and Oakmont with the same flag.  What the hell is going on?!  ;) ;D

A truly under-rated links; those who make the effort to get to Cruden Bay would be well-served by traveling the extra 30 miles or so to play this course.
