1950 U.S. Amateur champ Sam Urzetta passed away today at his home in Rochester, N.Y. Sam was one of the finest human beings you will ever meet in your life.

John,

Thanks for the article on Sam.  I heard about this earlier today, and it is a huge loss for the Rochester golf community.  I got to know Sam by caddying and working in the bagroom at Country Club of Rochester.  He talked to me about caddying as a kid at Hillcrest Country Club, an NLE nine-holer in East Rochester, playing in the Walker Cup at Royal Birkdale and Kittansett, and meeting and playing against the great players of that era.  He was giving lessons through this past summer, so he did something loved until his last days.
