« on: July 02, 2011, 08:24:12 PM »
A friend will be copying a 1930 Shell street map of Portland OR which hangs in his office and will be checking with Houston to see if they have some copyrighted between 1930. and 1970.

When we left the airport here in Portland last week, we went south on 82nd Ave.  Right away I saw a sign identifying a business called "Alderwood" something or other.  That was the name of Macan's NLE course that's been called his best.   Does it show on your map?  I understand it was bulldozed when PDX was built.

Bill,
It should. I'll find out next week. Alderwood was basically east of CECC and Riverside and north of Broadmoor.

Tiger,
I don't know because I didn't know there were fire insurance maps.

Sanborne made some I used to look at. University and local libraries tend to have sets of them. They tend to focus on central developed parts of cities given commercial structures were their concern.

I love old maps. They can be extremely helpful. eBay is a great source for them at reasonable prices.
