Jud:

You should post your lists as new threads.

Not exactly what George has in mind, but this thread and JK's Riv/SH matchup gave me a related idea.  How about another weekly series, of one-on-one matchups between top courses?  Could do match play, or medal play for that matter.

How about setting up brackets first like March Madness?

I would like to see a list of:

1) Max Behr's best ideas/quotes
2) Best Jack Nicklaus greens (Matt Ward)
3) Best MacRaynorBanks holes (George Bahto)

I would be willing to do a top ten public course list for Ohio.

I would also be willing to do a top 10 Dev Emmet course list.

For Doak:

Top 10 non-RGD modern courses.

I would suggest modifying this to Top 10 non-RGD and non C&C courses built since 1990...

What has made my thread interesting is that I limit it to one hole per day.  The Twitter mentality of these rapid fire lists should be left for Twitter.I am gaining respect for writers by forcing myself to write an interesting tid bit everyday.  Of course if it was anyone else I would accuse them of gratuitous attention whoring by bumping their thread every morning.  But that is just me.

Note:  We did a bracket of course against course matchplay around 3 years ago. I remember getting kudos' from P Young for taking Bethpage Black so deep.

John,

"I remember getting kudos' from P Young for taking Bethpage Black so deep."

I actually think that uou will like the two lists I've prepared for George. One is serious and definitely architecturally-oriented and hopefully will spur on an interesting discussion. I think, though, that the one that is decidedly less serious will tickle your fancy much more...  ;D

Mac,

Here's my top ten places I'd actually travel to play ( with sub divisions) ;)

Top Ten Places I'd Travel to Play

(Driving within two hours of Atlanta)
1.  A pretty obvious one about 150 miles to the east :)
2.  Cuscowilla
3.  The Honors Course in Chattanooga. It's my home course and I really have fun there.  I wish TD would give the membership another chance as other than me, the guys up there are really great!

(Willing to travel by plane (which I despise) inside the US)
4.  NGLA
5.  Old MacDonald
6.  Prairie Dunes
7.  Sand Hills
8.  Cypress Point

(Willing to travel overseas for)
9.  Royal County Down
10.  The Old Course

Honorable Mention since I have never been there but it sounds great--a trip to Australia's sand belt to play one of those courses.

Chris...you know I got any list that anyone might want at the ready and on stand-by!!   :)

Here goes; Top 10 US courses that I need to play, but haven't (yet)

Augusta National---not a lot of explaining needed on this one, right?

Bandon Dunes complex---I need to see the most important golf development in modern times, including the Sheep Ranch

Prairie Dunes---Came up BIG time in a recent thread I started "Top 5 Top 100 that you want to play again"...that says a lot to me

Cypress Point---Like Augusta, not a lot of explaining needed

Rivieria---The bunker in the green 6th looks neat...I need to play a Thomas

Merion---People say the East is the best routed course on a small piece of property.  Plus I have a fetish to play all the courses in which Bobby Jones won en route to his Grand Slam.

Peachtree---What Atlanta guy doesn't want to play Peachtree?

Pine Valley---I need to get more consistent at the game before I try to tackle this bad boy.  I want to be able to play well (and consistent) enough to really enjoy the architecture here.

Crystal Downs---I've got to see how this thing could have possibly been overlooked for so long.

Tetherow---I'm a big fan of the short game and have you seen those greens?  Oh man...cool stuff!!

Sportsman/Adventure loving golfer.
