Pat,

I'm not sure any Australian club would let the USGA come in and do what they do. We enjoy playing off short grass too much - and look on in horror at the type of golf shots we see at the US Open. I would hope they would all be strong enough to stand up for the values of the game here and eschew the overuse of long grass.
But you are right - if it was to be anywhere it would be The Australian - which Nicklaus has just started to rebuild - after rebuilding it in 1977.

I was referring to the USGA attitude fitting in with the mess Nicklaus made originally (IMO).
No chance the USGA would understand the brilliance in most cases of Australia's best
