Technology strikes Again
« on: September 22, 2010, 06:35:48 AM »

The following photo was taken by a spy at the R&A test laboratories in outer Wales. Published without permission as its red hot off the press, but we like to keep you abreast with all the latest R&A initiatives.

Now that is what I call an acceptable distance aids (and no batteries), in fact the only one that should be legal – Apparently has Patent pending for this and a mobile version (which will be welded to a cart), This is currently undergoing field trials however some in the R&A have voiced serious concerns with regards to the mobile version – with its ability to pass under bridges on the average golf course. Others feel that challenges may come from the Aviation industry due to its close resemblance to their equipment.

Others concerns are being voiced by those in the know that any form of distance aids just slows down the game – the static or mobile model will be no exception and will increase the duration of the round. Distance aids are still contentious and considered by many as an inherent weakness in many a golfers game.

Apparently the R&A will rule on the mobile option of the static ladder by 2051 or as they say within a reasonable period.

I bet Doc wished technology could have suddenly struck when his latest child was born, a few years back.  For those that don;t know, the reason Robin is Doc Robin is down to him delivering his baby in an emergency on his own drive!  I don't know bout you lot, but Doc can be on my side anytime and he can use any equipment he likes.

The thought brings a warm feeling to my heart  knowing that another carts with its crude form of GPS (5,000BC style) is no more. As for the golfer it may shock him into believing in his own God given abilities. ;)

Don't you just love technology :-\
