What about the Hurzdan/Fry Quicksand in San Angelo?  I was out there visiting my bro when he was training at Goodfellow AFB.  For $25 to ride, it was one of the best deals I've ever come across.  It's not a world beater but it has a some good holes.  A few on the back are routed around a canyon and it was pretty wide and fast out there in 2007.

Anyone played Riverhill (J. Finger/B. Nelson) in Kerrville? Any comments?

David,

I'm very familiar with Riverhill. It's a nice Hill Country club with interesting bentgrass greens kept in sensational condition. It's a good members course with variety, and it gets better with each play.
