Kinderlou Forest

Played there this past weekend and thought it was an outstanding, but brutal golf course. My friend and I played it from 7300 yards in about mid 40 degree temperatures. For a couple of Cincinnati guys, putting was hard to get used too on those Bermuda greens. I especially liked the 3rd, ravine 4th, the redan 15th, and the biarritz 16. My highlight was having 10 feet for birdie on #18 on the 2nd day (470 yards, uphill, wet, into the wind). This place really kicked our butt and we are decent players. Either way, it was great to get out of this Midwest snow and play some golf. Couldn't beat $50 for the round either. We will definitely be back!

With that being said, what are your opinions of the course?

well i like it pretty much....but would probably play it from 6300 or something for me....but that's coming from one of those who did it, and probably biased.

Alot of things were done very well at Kinderlou. I especially like holes 4 through 7. That's as good a four hole stretch as you'll find anywhere. Probbably the best thing about Kinderlou is that the developers have deep enough pockets to see it through these tough times. It should remain a very solid course for years to come

I've played at Kinderlou three times, and love it.  Great variety of holes, and a very cool use of the quarry pit on a par 5 and par 3.  Superior golf course, and a must-play in that area of Georgia.

The third time I played there I was by myself late on a weekday afternoon with the course empty.  I decided I'd try the tips, which are 7800 yds., just to see what that was like.  I lasted 4 holes before I moved up where I belong.

I was unable to take any pictures, but I wanted to add another thumbs up to Kinderlou Forest.  If you happen to be in Valdosta, GA it is a must see.

It is one of the best housing development courses that I have played.  I seem to remember reading that DLIII had his choice of land for the course and the developer would then place roads and houses.  What a logical idea and it worked great, its a pity it doesn't happen more often. 

I read that DLIII was inspired by Chicago GC when he designed the course.  I have not had the pleasure to play a MacDonald, but from what I have read and seen in pictures many MacDonald features have been included.

I really enjoyed the green complexes.  They were very simple, but interesting and challenging.  They fit into their surrounds and had a great deal of variety.

The bunkering was well done, and I especially like the linear lines of many of them.
