Stanford/Princeton 36 hole match at NGLA & Shinnecock
« on: August 14, 2009, 10:30:04 PM »
In the latest Golfweek, I saw that on September 15, Stanford's men travel out to Long Island for a sort of doubleheader against Princeton.  18 at NGLA and 18 at Shinnecock!  I assume one could go out there and watch.  Hard to imagine two better courses to see in a single day.

Doubtful I can make it up there for it, but I hope some from GCA are able to.

I wonder what college/university has the highest share of NGLA or Shinnecock members.  Probably Harvard, but Princeton might be a dark horse (especially if you adjust for number of total alumni).

Probably Yale or Columbia, followed by Harvard, Williams & Princeton.

Just another Ivy League geek promoting its athletic prowess.   ::) The Big East quietly runs the world and my guess would be St John's leading the way for the rank and file members!

Slapper if you need any help getting on Newton Commonwealth, just ask!  :-* And yes I do understand that BC is no longer in The Big East and that Mucci's alma mater may actually beat us in football this year.

A friend's son is being recruited to play at Princeton. The list of courses the team plays and/or has access to is amazing.

I hope they do allow spectators. Was headed up to NYC area and the dates are right in the middle of my trip back east to view the Walker Cup and the Crump Cup. My Walker Cup tickets just came in today's mail.

Reading this thread and hearing about this event marks the first time that I have felt really sad about not returning to the Princeton golf team in the fall.

YALE, especially in the governing bodies.
