I also received two emails from tigerwoods.com.

I have as well. And I did post on TW's lousy behaviour.

Melvyn,

It is disturbing if the "prankster" got your e-mail address from here.  It's worse if it was done by a GCAer.

As to avoiding BUDA, that's madness.  Get yourself down to Deal and say hello.  Mark Bourgeouis won't be in attendance, so no-one dangerous will be there (other than Bill McBride in the evenings...)

Pat Craig,

We get you don't get on with Melvyn.  Only someone with very little class would needs to put a post in every one of his threads to make the point.  Grow up.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Gentlemen, I do understand that privacy is an important issue, but email address leaking out is really not that serious.

For most people, the email address is not going to have any vital privacy information. The only real danger is with getting more SPAM emails. I think you guys are taking this a bit too seriously.

Heck, you guys can publish my emails if you want, it has my name on it, but it make no real difference to me. There is enough of your private information floating out there (your address, SSN, etc.) that worrying about email address seems a bit silly to me. You should never assume any privacy when you are posting onliine on places like this.

I didn't say I wasn't 'keen', but you do have a ways to go.

Good luck

I only posted in this thread because some nitwit was allowing others to think that I played this prank. The point of my post was to defend myself. And no I do not post in all of Melvyn's self-serving threads, for example, the thread he started two weeks ago which consisted of an open letter bashing me...I ignored it. I ignored it after I told you in a private PM that I was 100% done with the wacko from Scotland. In posting on the totally normal Tiger Woods thread (my posts NOT directed at Melvyn at all, but the discussion) he proceeded to make a nasty, insulting, and stupid post about my comments.

I only posted in this thread because some nitwit was allowing others to think that I played this prank. Where?  It had never occurred to me that you might be responsible and a re-read of the thread doesn't reveal any sort of hint.  I'm afraid paranoia is getting the better of you.The point of my post was to defend myself. And no I do not post in all of Melvyn's self-serving threads, for example, the thread he started two weeks ago which consisted of an open letter bashing me...I ignored it. I ignored it after I told you in a private PM that I was 100% done with the wacko from Scotland. It is, so I'm told, a serious breach of Online Forum Etiquette to refer openly to a PM.  Of course what's worse here is that you just can't help yourself insulting another poster.  I repeat:  Grow Up.In posting on the totally normal Tiger Woods thread (my posts NOT direI don't have a dog in this fight.  Neither of you comes out of your mutual bickering well.cted at Melvyn at all, but the discussion) he proceeded to make a nasty, insulting, and stupid post about my comments.

It is disappointing to find out that a member is probably abusing their privileges.

Pat

For the record, I did not think it was you, I said I don’t know who.

As for the on going dislike for me, that is your choice. You started this, when I e-mailed you months ago to try to pour oil on troubled waters you used strong language and make it clear of your position, telling me to stop e-mailing you which I did. I again am happy to hold out the olive branch, but I will not sit back while you have a go at any members of my family either dead or alive.

This site is about golf course architecture and Old Tom is or was a major designer. His name will come up, as will other members of my family. Hunters, Morris & Rusack. My membership to this site is because of my family connections, however if the majority of Members want me off GCA.com they just have to tell me I’m not wanted.

Its now totally down to you.

Melvyn

PS Richard, I understand your post but had it been porn that turned up with my grandchildren here this weekend, well I leave you to think that one out.  My wife has just read some of the posts as she does from time to time and was not very taken by Kelly, asking if he is joking or is he serious, because if he is I don’t want you to have anything to do with him.

Melvyn, Please do not assume the entire forum wishes you to leave.
Your contributions are valuable fodder for the less sophisticated who wish to grow and heed your advice.

Just because the few vocal(reads over posters) that clearly have little interest in discussing the subject of architecture, are the ones who need to heed your perspective the most on all golf related matters. There is no reason to think many are not benefiting from your perspective even if no one steps up and posts that they are. These vocal few appear to be true novices and will likely never have the complete understanding of this elastic sport, past their own views on why or how a course they like is never mentioned here. Or, how a specific designer is derided for producing mediocre work. Some even go onto other sites ridiculing this diverse group because that's what human nature does. Clearly these are the ones who need your lessons the most.

Your willingness to continue to extend an olive branch is enough evidence of your deeper understanding.

My advice...continue posting, have no fear of having your public email address compromising your safety or identity (see Richard Choi's post) and please do not stop trying to teach these unwashed pleebs some of the deeper lessons that centuries of exposure can yield. Ignore the few who wish to continually and repeatedly fight for a cause that's unsophisticated.
