Steve:

Have you played it ?

Have others ?

How does it hold up -- the holes opened -- to the likes of Morgan Hill or Lederach ?

Thanks ...

Matt,

I just found out today that this course is now open to the public. I'll try to play it next week if it ever stops raining here.Previously, only residents of the "active adult" community surrounding the course had access. The course has not been completed because new housing sales have not materialized. Here is KBM's info with pictures from his website:

Here's a thread I started on it back on March but it seemed to fly under the radar!  And it has pics too.

Joe,

I remember your thread. The course apparently has been open to the public since May 1 with minimal publicity, if any. The developer is attempting to generate some, however minimal given the posted rates, cash flow. The current issue of golfstyles has a brief mention. It's not online yet.

I'm happy to see any golf holes opening these days, and since I've always enjoyed Kelly's work a great deal, I'll certainly look forward to getting over there to play them.

Thanks.  I probably missed your earlier thread since I didn't know where Warwick, PA was so I didn't look at the thread.  Putting 'Bucks Co.' in the title of this thread made me look at it since I know where it is.

Looks like a pretty flat site.  It will be interesting to compare and contrast with Lederach and Morgan Hill, which are very hilly.

KBM seems like an unlikely choice to design a course at an over 55 development since what i had seen of his architecture is rather 'pronounced', shall we say.

I played it yesterday.  The greens are interesting, but tee-to-green, I didn't enjoy it much-especially on first play, since most of the holes are blind-and you can't see where your drives land.  On the tight side too, I would say.  Probably not much acreage to work with and a lot of wetland, etc constraints.  semi-shared fairways mitigated the narrowness somewhat, but may pose a bit of a danger of being struck by errant shots.  we'll see how the other 12 holes turn out eventually (hopefully).

I doubt I'm going back until they build some more holes.  If you want to take a look at it, and don't want to pay the $10 green fee, 4 of the 6 holes are readily visible from the street.  Probably just need to get out of your car behind the 'third' hole tee and walk 20 yards to the hill above the tee and you should be able to see most of those 4 holes.  and the '2nd' hole, a par 3, you can pretty much see on the other side of the street from the third.  The 'first' hole is in the woods though.  Alternately, the guys who run the show there (there is no clubhouse or trailer, just a podium and some carts) are friendly and probably would let you walk around the course if it isn't too busy.  (Or you could just pay the $10 and play it).

I've already done that quite a few times. Also met Kelly there while he was working on the 10th green.

Most importantly, is there a Pho restaurant nearby?

Yes.

It'll be good as an 18. I love a lot of the subtle visual deceptions that I'd be glad to point out during the round. The 9th green is neat with all the bumps and hillocks and a bunker integrated cleverly and uniquely. The fairway bunkers are Kelly's usual style of cat scratch gouges that could yield a clear shot or force the golfer to play to an awful position down the fairway.

The uphill par 3 7th has a great front left pin that is semi-blind and when overshot lands the golfer into a narrow, blind bunker.
