Peter Wagner,

You know that my comment on #17 ("I own this hole") after making my par putt was made solely for your benefit!  Prior to the fateful day, I had not made par on the hole (in two tries).  I like a difficult closing stretch in a tournament course and I think 15-18 provides it (so I would probably not soften the green).  The flowers on #16 might be a bit too much, but the rock fits the surroundings and it causes the player to take notice.  I suppose a smallish bunker there would work as well.

As to my favorite hole?  As I wrote in the earlier thread, 17 is among the finest of its kind anywhere.  I do like the 11, 12, 13 hole stretch very much.  All three provide interesting risk/reward opportunities.

Thanks again for hosting the group.

I have to say that 7 was also my favorite hole.  It is a good test for the long hitters, but even someone who does not hit the ball a long way (such as me) still has a chance to make par.  If you approach from too far to the left you have the difficult choice of going over or under the oak tree - and either may be a viable choice, depending on the pin position.

All of the par 5s are excellent but my favorite is 11.

I agree that the flowers and rocks on 16 are somewhat incongruous, but something needs to be there and a bunker would be just another bunker (ho hum).

As for the statue ... why would they want to have something at Sherwood that depicts Rustic Canyon?
