Chisholm Park in Dunedin, NZ

Does anyone know if the course went through significant architectural changes?  I played there last week with a friend and was amazed at such a hidden gem of a links course.  We played in gale force winds on a sunny day and scored terribly, but immediately after playing felt like heading back to the first tee.  However, we were wondering if a few holes had been moved due to encroachments on the property (14 felt out of place/crammed in, 7's tiny green didn't make sense to me unless the left bank is shaved, did the graveyard have something to do with it?).  What a great track still. To give you a sense of the beauty (for some reason i can't post the pic but here's a link t the view looking back down the 9th fairway.): http://www.golfersdream.co.nz/Images/StoreImages/Large/461875000.jpg

In answer to your questions. Chisholm Park is indeed a wonderful course on an outSTANDING PIECE OF LAND.Owned by the Dunedin City Council. I went there as managing professional in 1977 and with the assistance of the city parks and gardens department we laid out a plan to improve the links within the confines of the sea, the cemetery and the playing fields at the southern end of the course.
Togather with John Humphries, the greenkeeper who has managed the changes and the generally excellent condition of the course with only two staff at the most. John constructed the changes to designs of mine and Francis Whitaker, a leading architect in New Zealand and I oversaw the construction of the greens and new tees.  The seventh was a problem because of the continuous incursion of the cemetery and plans to change it also encountered problems. However the overall feel of the course is very pleasing and in conjunction with John Humphries and a new design of the 15th green by Greg Turner former leading professional we have continued to subtly modify the course at little expense to the city including a much improved 17th green. A plan to extend the course and resolve some insurmountable problems has unfortunately not gone ahead as yet. Chisholm Links as it now rightfully is, however is a wonderful work in progress.javascript:void(0);

John:

I went to see the course a few years ago while we were working at Cape Kidnappers, at the suggestion of Greg Turner.  Really enjoyed walking around it ... there's some great stuff, though it is also very tight in places.

Who designed the course originally?

How are those Jade drivers going?
I am playing golf today with Billy Longmuir - who may have won a tournament down there in the 70s
