Brora and Wick
« on: November 05, 2008, 12:47:23 PM »
Just digging for a little information and opinions.

I seem to recall reading about a second course in Brora that is no longer in play does anybody know anything about this course?

Also, has anyone here played the course at Wick. If so what was your impression of it?

Jon -

Are you thinking of the "homemade" course in Brora that Lorne Rubenstein mentions in "A Season In Dornoch?" I know of no other 2nd course, past or present, in Brora.

I have stopped by the course in Wick for a look, but have not played it. The course was upgraded several years ago with input from Ronan Rafferty.

www.wickgolfclub.com

Not too many pictures of the course there, unfortunately.

You know, sometimes threads like this make me wish I'd stayed in Scotland two years ago...

When this can be described as "nothing great" I shudder to think about the places I have played most of my golf.

Yes David, it could well be that course. I only remember that I once read something about another course but that it never really got going.

When I say nothing great... it's relative to scotland....

What you see on the first picture is the 15th on 16th... There's only one row of dunes at Wick, and some rolling ground along it...

The front nine plays along the farmland and the back along the dunes.

Holes to note
Par-3 second
Par-4 ninth
